HARVEY YOUNG
Harvey Young is a composer, sound artist and writer. His work examines dialectal interchange, psychogeography and temporality. He uses extended vocal techniques, field recordings and granulation to create electroacoustic and acousmatic works. He is a composer-in-residence at the Abeceda Institute in Bled, Slovenia for 2025. He lives in South East London.

An isogloss is 'a boundary line between places or regions that differ in a particular linguistic feature'.
The piece uses granulation and extended vocal techniques to imagine a moment of dialectal exchange at a linguistic boundary. Phonetically-varied vowel shapes diffuse, collide and implode to capture the dynamism that underpins speech, dialect and language.

LAMENT FOR THE OLD CLOCK - AN ELECTROACOUSTIC OPERA
Opera exploring the shift from cylical to linear temporality during the Industrial Revolution. The piece tells the story of an agricultural worker forced to submit to the callous and dehumanising demands of the nascent factory class.
